Sound: The overall sound was great. Singer/guitar player Dallas Green put on an amazing vocal performance. Frontman (screamer) of the band, George Pettit seemed on the verge of destruction with his his throat, but hey he's a screamer. Drums sounded phenominal, as did the bass. Guitar could have been up louder, but it still sounded pretty good. // 9

Perfomance: Alexisonfire came out that night and did their thing. Half of the crowd were really into them (the other half was their to see Funeral For A Freind). They used a decent amount of crowd participation including a breakdown in the song "We Are The Sound."

01. Random Intro - they played a little 30 second intro and no one seemed to know what was going on. It was played to build suspense and to guess what was going to happen next.
02. Mailbox Arson - this song starts out with screaming right out of the gate. Everyone went ballistic at this point. Everyone starting moving and moshing right away.
03. Boiled Frogs - this was one of their singles. The song usually starts out with a guitar intro. Instead, they started out with a drum intro, and then the guitars kicked in. Another crowd suspense technique. The crowd recognized it instantly.
04. Drunks, Lovers, Sinners, And Saints - this is the first song off of their latest album. Crowd seemed to not dig that one as much as the other's.
05. This Could Be Anywhere In The World - another one of their singles. They even stopped singing at one point and had the crowd fill in the lyrics. Fun song, good times.
06. We Are The Sound - as frontman George Pettit put it, "This is song's a ripper". And it was. This song caused some insane moshing and people going insane. Fast paced and adrenaline pumping song. There was a breakdown in the middle which called out for a crowd response.

After that they played two more songs. Both from their old albums, which I'm not that big on. The songs wern't that great either. All in all it was a fun show.
// 9

Impression: The show was at Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh, PA in the good old US on June 13, 2007. The First Act was a band from London named Fightstart. They're just Bush but heavier. The next band was Emanuel. Then Alexisonfire. Finally, headlining that night was Funeral For A Friend. This was a hell of a good time. Fun venue and environment. Tickets were only like 15 bucks and you can't beat that. The next time these guys come around, I will deffinatly be there. // 9

this isn't a great review. how can you say that the crowd was split right in half to see either AOF or FFAF?

Their first album was amazing, one of the best albums I own. Watch Out was pretty good, but not nearly as good as the first one. Crisis was brutal, just completely watered down from everything else they've done.

I couldn't have put it any better myself. First album was amazing... then they just got progressively more mainstream... unfortunate really..

Don't get me wrong, I can still put on all three cd's and listen to every song and enjoy each one..just the first cd is the sound that I like to label Alexisonfire on

That's weird...that seems like an awesome crowd song from performances in videos..

I like Watch out the best, and who cares if its more "mainstream"? it might have leaned more towards pop influences then hardcore but thats exaclty where they build upon great melodies and songs and what causes more people to check them out.

crisis is not a watered down mainstream hitting album its a collection of hard rockin anthems to get the kids moving. the first self titled is amazing as is watch out and crisis. seen them live 5 times each show more gnarly than the next, they are goddam amazing!

Okay for one their devoted fans care if its more mainstream because it seems like alexisonfire tried to change their sound specifically so they could go that way not because it was something better for their fans.

Also the first two albums were alexisonfire's best , i bought both as well as crisis and their is only 1 or 2 Crisis songs i don't mind the rest of the CD doesn't really seem like their was much energy put into it. The entire CD seems like it was tailored specifically to get radio play.

radio play? alexisonfire? i dont think i've ever heard alexis on the radio ever. You can hardly call crisis mainstream, saying that i still agree, watch out is their best album, how this guy didn't write about the watch out and the alexisonfire songs ive got no idea. Accidents is easily the best song of their set everytime. I'll be seeing them in november and cant wait for accidents live

also
04. Drunks, Lovers, Sinners, And Saints - this is the first song off of their latest album. Crowd seemed to not dig that one as much as the other's.
wtf this is their opener and the crowd normally go mental for it

nodice182 :
shrug, i wouldn't pay to hear them play that set, seeing as im not a fan of accidents.

unless, however, they played accidents. or hey mamma, it's your funeral. then i would pay inordinate sums of money just to hear one of those.

imo, watch out is their best.

Alexisonfire basically pioneered screamo music, in canada anyway, and if they want to go mainstream then they can go right ahead, because they would still be an amazing band. Can't wait to see these guys in July.

To be honest you sound like a dick. Personally I love the songs on Alexisonfire but I feel both Dallas and George developed more in their singing/growling abilities, thus I prefer listening to Watch Out! or Crisis. I dont think either of the latter two albums are engineered to be more mainstream. You think a band just makes albums in consideration to their fans? You think Alexisonfire sat down and said "hey let's make a mainstream album and get lots of radio play...yay!" Did you ever think about the fact that maybe this is the direction they felt like taking their music in and didn't give a rat's ass about ****s who say they're devoted fans but won't listen to the new cd cuz its mainstream. Don't be a stuck-up dickhead.

Wicked band. Can't wait for the Maritime East Coast tour in July. I think its funny that some people think they sold out and went mainstream because the're newer album's aren't the same as the first one.
What a bunch of tards.

Damned straight. I'm going to see them in Saint John, got my tickets already! Can't wait to see them. I haven't heard much off of their first album, but Watch Out! and Crisis are kick-ass.

How could Alexisonfire pioneer screamo when they aren't even screamo? And when screamo has been around since the early 90's? Bands like You & I, Saetia, and City of Caterpillar are screamo. Alexisonfire is post-hardcore with screaming. Not all music with screaming is screamo.

Alexisonfire is a pretty decent band, except all of their songs sound the same. One good thing about Crisis is that it has a lot more destinction between songs than their earlier stuff. That being said, their first CD is still the best. Just repetitive.

I completely disagree.

#1. Alexisonfire is a ****ing sweet band
#2. All their songs do not sound the same, but theres a distinct feel to the songs between each album, sometimes songs on albums can be pretty similar but not that often
#3. Unlike most people, I actually like Crisis the most, then Watch Out, and last, and certainly the least, their debut, I mean there first cd is not very good but I'm obsessed with the other 2 cds.

Thank god somebody's got it right. I'm so ****ing sick of all the kids on this site trying to be so hardcore or something; "arggg mainstream@!"... It's still music, and if you really were a "truly devoted fan", then you'd like their new stuff no matter what it sounds like.

What? so if you like a band at one point, then they put out a total shit record, you're still supposed to like it just because you like the old stuff?

And I'm not talking about Alexisonfire, because Crisis isn't that bad. I'm just being hypothetical.

I don't think all mainstream is bad, either. Most of it is, but some bands go mainstream and are still good.
