Warped Could End In 2008 As Kick Off Sports Perry, Rejects

With performances from Katy Perry, Beat Union, The Aggrolites and others, Kevin Lyman threw his annual Warped Tour Kick Off Party in Hollywood, California. Paramore, Cobra Starship, Against Me!, and Gym Class Heroes are among the bands set for all or a portion of the tour.

Kevin Lyman says Warped could go away this year despite success in recent years.

"This thing could go away. I don't really want it to go away, not only for myself, but for all the people that have been involved in this and go out there. When you have 900 people out on the road it's a pretty big economy of what's traveling down the road of busses and trucks and also the labels that are involved. So, there's a little pressure. Also, the charities involved. The problem is you're only based on the success you had last year. I guess we had a great summer last year, but it could go away June 19th. It's stealing a quote, but you're only as good as your last show. My problem is I'm only as good as my last day."

Katy Perry spoke to us right before the performance portion or the Warped Tour kick-off party, and she revealed her surprise.

"I have a little bit of a surprise. I always have small, not costing, surprises at my shows. OK, it's a big fat strawberry piata and I'm going to beat the s**t out of it."

The Warped Tour kicks off June 20 in Pomona, California, and fans can check warpedtour.com to see which bands will be playing on which dates. The tour wraps up August 17 in Carson, California.

I kinda hope it does. Looking at years back, it was so much better... the bands now (generally) suck.
