Roger Waters, formerly of Pink Floyd, is among the wide array of artists booked for the Coachella festival, which will hit April 25 through April 27. The festival also features Scars On Broadway (System Of A Down's Daron Malakian), Jack Johnson, Portishead and others, but what may have attracted Waters was the environmental part of the festival.
Coachella tries to limit the garbage left after festivals and tries to be as "green" as possible. They suggested carpools to the show, they had a 10 empty for one full bottle clean-up promotion, and instituted various other measures. Politics and climate issues go hand in hand. So with the political races heating up, and the stage set by what Rage Against The Machine spewed out in their return, could Waters use it to drive home a message? Last year Waters played Live Earth, and backstage he said that people need to elect those who will do the right thing.

"I think what you can do is vote, and I think that you make a cogent point in that these problems will not be solved until, we, the electorate, make it quite clear to candidates running for office that we will not vote for them unless they have a clear policy on the environment in general and global warming in particular. And also we will not vote for them if they have a track record like this current administration does, you know?"
Waters is slated to play the whole Dark Side Of The Moon album at Coachella, and the open air, open sky setting is probably optimal for the performance. Tickets for Coachella go on sale today, January 25, at 10am.
