Puddle Of Mudd still has the back of Limp Bizkit vocalist Fred Durst despite the naysayers. Puddle of Mudd has managed to survive the tide when it comes to the whims of Alternative radio and the scene. While not overly hyped, the band has captured the top Alternative rock spot with the song "Psycho," and they're doing pretty well on the other rock charts we might add. The band was discovered by Fred Durst, which led to the band hitting with mega hits "Blurry," "She Hates Me," and others. They've recently released their latest album, Famous.
Durst has been challenged to fights by Slipknot, has taken shots for his relationship with Britney Spears, and his on stage antics. Puddle Of Mudd said that they'll be eternally grateful to Durst, and that the former Bizkit frontman is a tough cookie and can take the shots.

"Fred's cool, man. He's a tough cookie. He got our foot in the door, that's for real and helped out tremendously. I think nowadays he's doing a lot of directing. We don't speak to him too much, but we appreciate everything he's ever done for our careers, which is awesome. My hat's off to him, man. Shoot, if it wasn't for him we probably wouldn't be sitting in this room doing this interview right now, or maybe we would be. But he definitely helped out a lot. I wish him all the best for all the movies he's doing, and if he gets another band rocking I'm sure the music's going to be really cool. He's a very talented and artistic cat."
Durst recently released The Education Of Eddie Banks, which was one of the most favorable flicks at last year's Tribeca Film Festival. It's been over ten years since Limp Bizkit erupted onto the scene, and the band's body of work includes Three Dollar Bill Y'All$ (1997), Significant Other (1999), Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water (2000), Results May Vary (2003), and The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) (2005).

: I'm not even going to join in with the Durst flaming that's about to happen. I'm instead going to point out that the only reason POM are around is because they're mates with him.POSTED: 04/18/2008 - 10:46 am / quote |

No space for ifs here. He helped them, therefore MTV latched on to them.POSTED: 04/18/2008 - 12:11 pm / quote |

: Psycho is a terrible song. The guitar line is annoying, and the lead singer sounds like hes trying to rip off Layne Staley at the beginning. Very bland, very lame. POSTED: 04/18/2008 - 12:26 pm / quote |

: i love their first album, but since then they dropped off the music scene with originality i can't stand their new stuff, as for durst, i'll say it, but i have some of his music YES ITS TRUE,but music is music, and we all like what we like.POSTED: 04/18/2008 - 01:55 pm / quote |

: Good article. I don't really care for POM except for a couple of songs, which I can't even remember their names, but I used to be a huge Durst fan, I was wondering what happened to him. POSTED: 04/18/2008 - 02:16 pm / quote |

: I've always had respect for Durst in the fact that he knows how to scout for good bands that have a lot of potential...examples not only being Puddle Of Mudd, but Staind and Cold as well. He helped them out tremendously with directing and publicity when they were still 'underground,' and everyone should know how hard it is to get your name out their when you're in the music business.POSTED: 04/18/2008 - 02:52 pm / quote |

: They've got Fred Durst's back? I wonder what that feels like - to happily go down on a sinking ship that was never that strong to begin with. I liked Limp Bizkit, I still listen to their older albums, and though I'm a fan, it was very obviously NOT Durst that carried the band - the music was what made them good.
Aside from that, Wes Scantlin says "We hardly ever talk to him (Durst) anymore."
So how is that supporting him, exactly? POSTED: 04/18/2008 - 03:06 pm / quote |

: Funny too that Puddle Of Mudd say they've "Survived the tide when it comes to the whims of Alternative radio and the scene."

: I dis-like Durst because when lb played the big day out a few years back a girl was crushed in the mosh pit because he refused to listen to the security when they told him to get the band to pause for a while so they could help her out instead he went off his head at the guy and when news broke out that a girl died during their set the band got out of the country asap and had no comment. thats worse then having a relationship with britney spears anydayPOSTED: 04/19/2008 - 12:46 am / quote |

"She Hates Me" sounds suspiciously like Suicidal's "I Saw Your Mommy". In my opinion anything Durst touches smells like shit for years.POSTED: 04/19/2008 - 12:34 pm / quote |
