How Linkin Park Chose Projekt Revolution Bands 2008

artist: linkin park date: 04/09/2008 category: video news

As with last year's Projekt Revolution tour, which featured My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday, fans are always going to have an opinion on the quality of the tour's line-up. This year Linkin Park will be heading out with mainstagers Chris Cornell, The Bravery, and Ashes Divide, and Revolutionary stagers Atreyu, 10 Years, Armor For Sleep, Hawthorne Heights, and Street Drum Corps.

Video clip :

In a previous interview Mike Shinoda talked about how the band decides the Projekt Revolution line-up.

Mike Shinoda On Who Makes Projekt Rev Decisions

"Each of the guys in the band are involved in a different category of our existence. Each guy is a chairperson for different things. One of my things is art, one of my things is in the studio. Dave works a lot with sponsorships, and Chester works a lot with the shows and the tours, and Rob Bourdon is on that committee as well. So the two of those guys headed it off, and when they got to the point with a summer tour, for example Projekt Revolution, they put together all the tour, the ideas, and when they got to the point where it was possible, where they were talking to bands that were available and had open schedules and etcetera, then they presented it to the whole band."

Like it or not, Projekt Revolution 2008 tickets go on sale in certain markets starting April 11.

Check the Projektrevoltuion.com site for more information.

I love the lineup, not the best it has been but I am looking forward to this show. Much better than last years lineup!
I wish they'd bring back the nu-metal band lineups like Deftones, Static-X, KoRn, and 90's metal. But this is definitely a solid lineup.

Sure it did... basically, Chester and Rob pick who'd they like to see and then see who from the list of possible bands is available.

I like the different types of lineups each year. Even if you don't know all of the bands/not sure if you'd like the bands, the tour introduces you to new things.

Not sure what you mean by that, the only band I can honestly see being labeled as "emo" is Hawthorne Heights, and they're second stage. The main stage acts are far from emo. Also, by the way... "crap" is a completely relative opinion in case you didn't already realize that.

its a good idea, but y do they always call these things revolutions? bit cliche if u get my drift. its the same with project, though they have spelt it with a k, which makes it exciting..apparently.

I only went last year to their tour to see HIM and Taking Back Sunday, but my word, I really really got into Linkin Park since then. They are just amazing live.

Honestly, Linkin Park doesnt deserve all the crap they get. Great band and a great tour, Im looking forward to this year's lineup aswell, not bad at all.

hmm pretty sure i'm definitely not going to be hitting this tour up, never have before and see no reason to this year. I'd really like to see Cornell because I love Soundgarden but Ive only heard the bond song from his solo stuff so it would be pretty pointless, especially because he's pretty much the only thing Id wanna watch. Ive already had to suffer through atreyu 3 times.

I think the tour is supposedly including artists who play different styles, it's not like they are going to put just one style on both main and alternate stages. I think the word "Revolution" doesn't refer to the fact that is "unique" but to the fact that that want to mix things up and put a variety of artists to play there so is could fit "more that one taste". That's why they had hip-hop artists as well.. At least that's what i think.. Anyway, I've never had the chance to see them live (and I would do pretty much anything to see them) so I don't pay this much of attention to the PR tours, they just won't show up around here..

I might go just to see Chris Cornell. I saw him at a small bar-type place on his solo tour last fall and he was amazing. I'd like to see him on a bigger stage.

As for everyone else on this tour, well let's just say i may only show up for Cornell. I don't like any of Linkin Park's new stuff and I've not heard a good thing about any of the other bands.

I don't get why Cornell's going to be there. He's probably twice as old as some of the people there. The great thing about his show was that he incorporated stuff from his whole career instead of trying to shove his new album down our throats(he only played 4 of his new songs in a 2.5 hr show).
