Buckcherry Goes Platinum, Without The Crying

artist: buckcherry date: 01/21/2008 category: video news

Spurred on by their latest single, "Sorry," which has garnered some Top 40 airplay, Buckcherry have finally reached their goal of taking their latest album, 15, platinum. The band released the album in 2006, and they were relentless on the road.

In an interview at the beginning of the album/tour cycle for 15, they talked about reaching the platinum goal of one million units sold.

Video clip :

Buckcherry On Going Platinum

[Joshua Todd] "That's my goal, my personal goal. I want to get to platinum really bad. It's a really big deal for me and Keith." [Keith Nelson] "We're able to go out and make music for a living and support ourselves but anything after that is just gravy. It's just shades of gray after that, but having a platinum album is definitely a goal that I've had for a long time, and I'm not coming off the road until it is."

The band says they are an antidote for whats missing in rock and roll these days.

Buckcherry On Music Climate

[Todd] "I don't know. It just seems that a lot of guys in rock and roll now are just... They're so into their feelings. They're like chicks. I don't get it."

[Nelson] "I mean at some point it became really cool to not have to look good, and to not have to be able to play good [sic] and be successful at it, at the music business. Just because something is successful doesn't necessarily mean that it's any good, at least in my opinion. I'm just glad, you know, we see certain bands out there, younger bands that are coming up you can tell that they're putting the effort into being musicians, and playing their instruments, and having a good live show and writing great songs. It's starting to swing back the other way, and I'm really glad to see it."

Buckcherry's "Crazy Bitch" got the ball rolling. Despite an expletive laden chorus, the song exploded in all formats including ring-tones. Buckcherry is currently off tour after an exhausting run, but they will be playing their hit "Sorry" The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Thursday, January 24.

I don't understand.... how does this band have that many fans? Are less and less people learning about older music these days? I think the new generations of music listeners are not hearing the great stuff that inspired todays rock, which is causing them to embrace all these rip off and blah bands. I was a fan of similar stuff until I started really exploring good rock and playing guitar better. Buckcherry is along side Hinder and other blah bands that just suck up radio time with their boring music. They can pump out easy, lame music and the musically retarded general public will eat it up. Sad.... I think Slash, Tommy Iommi, and other great, TALENTED rock composers should personally train some new blood.
