UFO Drummer Forced To Sit Out Tour

artist: ufo date: 02/13/2007 category: upcoming tours

Legendary hard rockers UFO have issued the following update, according to Blabbermouth.net:

"We are very sorry to announce that last Wednesday Andy Parker [drums] broke his ankle by slipping on a wet floor. After two hospital appointments Andy had surgery today and now has a plate and some screws in his ankle. Needless to say, he won't be ready to play the UFO tour in March. We are all very upset about this.

"After much discussion between Andy and the other bandmembers the decision was taken to go ahead with the tour and play the March dates with a replacement drummer. Our good friend Simon Wright (DIO, ex-AC/DC) was kind enough to step in immediately — thanks mate!

"As many of you will know, Simon toured with UFO on the 'Walk On Water' tour (no pun intended!) and we're sure you'll join with us in thanking Simon for keeping the tour on schedule and in wishing Andy a speedy and comfortable recovery.

"Get well soon, Mr. Parker!"

UFO's new album, "The Monkey Puzzle", came out in September via SPV Records. The follow-up to 2004's "You Are Here" was recorded at Area 51 Studios with producer Tommy Newton, who also worked with the band on their last CD and who recorded the material for the band's "Showtime" live album.

UFO's "Showtime" live CD/DVD was recorded at Pumpwerk in Wilhelmshaven, Germany on May 13, 2005.

I wish it was, maybe since this drummer is out, maybe they'll get john bonhams son to play for them again.

Yes, this is off topic, I apologize.

Since Jason Bonham was mentioned, I'm wondering, what famous son of a famous drummer do people like more (think is better, etc), Jason Bonham or Zak Starkey?

For my money, Zak really kicks some serious ass as displayed on the The Who's Albert Hall concert DVD, he's flawless. But Jason hits damned hard, almost as hard as his old man.
