Santana Travels The World

artist: carlos santana date: 01/11/2008 category: upcoming tours

Carlos Santana and his namesake band are preparing to launch a world tour that will wind its way through North America in April.

The "Live Your Light Tour" will start next month in the Far East, visiting Dubai, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong into early March. After a bit of breather, Santana will kick off the North American run April 4 in Boston and travel around the East and Midwest through early May, with a few stops in Canada. Two-night stands are booked in Atlanta and Atlantic City, NJ. The band will follow its American jaunt with four-week tour of Europe in June and July.

North American concert dates are detailed below, and overseas shows can be found at Santana's website.

The group is currently a fixture on pop and adult radio with its latest hit, "Into the Night" featuring Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger. The tune is the lead single from the "Ultimate Santana" hits collection, which surfaced in October and reached No. 8 on The Billboard 200. In addition to "Into the Night," the album features previously unreleased songs "This Boy's Fire" featuring Jennifer Lopez and Baby Bash, "The Game of Love" with Tina Turner and "Interplanetary Party."

Santana's latest set of all-new music is 2005's "All That I Am," which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and features guest stars including Michelle Branch, Steven Tyler, Mary J. Blige, Los Lonely Boys and Big Boi.

During his nearly four-decade-long career, Carlos Santana has sold upwards of 90 million records, performed for more than 100 million people, and won 10 Grammys, according to his bio. Nine of those Grammy trophies were awarded for Santana's blockbuster 1999 album, "Supernatural," which has logged sales of more than 25 million.

MAYNARD :
Um.. all the shitty albums he has came out with the last few years is just to make money, and get his name out there. What other reason is there to play with all the ****tards he has played with. There is no way in hell someone, esp of his caliber, can listen to the music of some of the people he has worked with more recently and think, man that is some interesting music, I would love to play with them. I mean come on Michelle f'in Branch?
