Oasis Return To The Road

artist: oasis date: 04/02/2008 category: upcoming tours
Oasis Return To The Road

British pop-rockers Oasis are coming to North America this summer for a short run of dates that will culminate with a headlining performance at Toronto's Virgin Festival.

The band will start Aug. 26 in Seattle, WA, playing its first live show in more than two years, and then move on to Canadian gigs in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. Ryan Adams and the Cardinals will serve as special guests on concerts ahead of the Sept. 7 Virgin Festival.

Since late last year, Oasis has been holed up in London and Los Angeles studios, working on its seventh studio album with producer David Sardy. The set, due sometime this year, will follow 2005's "Don't Believe the Truth," which reached No. 12 on The Billboard 200 and spawned modern-rock hit "Lyla."

In 2006, Oasis also put out a two-disc career retrospective dubbed "Stop the Clocks," which features hits including "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova," as well as B-sides such as "Acquiesce" and "Half the World Away."

Meanwhile, the Gallagher brothers recently released their first digital single, "Lord Don't Slow Me Down," which comes from the double-DVD of the same name. The film, which surfaced in October, captures Oasis' yearlong world tour to support "Don't Believe the Truth." The first disc includes a feature-length documentary and Q&A with Noel Gallagher, and the second comprises the band's homecoming concert at the City of Manchester Stadium and footage sent in by fans.

The audio and video for the song "Lord Don't Slow Me Down" are streaming at Oasis' MySpace page.

Tour dates are as follows:

08/26 - Seattle, WA - WaMu Theater
08/27 - Vancouver, British Columbia - GM Place
08/29 - Edmonton, Alberta - Rexall Place
08/30 - Calgary, Alberta - Pengrowth Saddledome
09/07 - Toronto, Ontario - Toronto Island Park/Virgin Festival

Toronto, so close!

I could go, and would probably die to...

But it's just way too expensive for a college student who's broke to begin with. I really hope I can manage to go...

Scheduled to come out in August/September, so this is probably warming up for a larger world tour next year.

Next album is set up to be "the new Morning glory" apparently. They're using the same styles as they did in Dont believe the Truth, which was seen as a return to form, but are also sticking in some strings.

Should be an interesting album. Hope they play test a song or two so we can get a bootleg.

Oasis should really consider embracing their new sound and expanding upon it. Liam is a much more capable vocalist than the early days and will probably do much better than before. I can't wait.

I like Wonderwall... don't know much else about them.

I thought that song about "Put the past away" was them but it was third eye blind even though I thought it was Oasis.

Why I'm I here because I'm not an Oasis fan? Because I damn well can and I'm just as bored as everyone here.
