Linkin Park Set For Revived Edgefest

Stone Temple Pilots and Linkin Park will head the bill for the 2008 Edgefest in Toronto, which is returning after a one-year hiatus. The event will be held July 12 at Downsview Park.

Rounding out the bill are Sam Roberts Band, the Bravery, Ashes Divide, Attack In Black, Arkells, the Coast, Creature, the Flatliners, Hostage Life, Modernboys Moderngirls, the Stereohoax, Sweet Thing and USS.

Tickets go on sale Saturday (March 1) to the general public; members of 102.1 the Edge's Inside Edge club will have access to a discounted pre-sale tomorrow.

Edgefest is only the second Stone Temple Pilots show to be announced since the alt-rock band recently revealed it was reuniting. The group will also play May 17 at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio.

Why hasn't anyone brought up Ashes Divide!? It's Billy Howerdel's new solo project, let's see what the man behind A Perfect Circle has to bring forward when he's upfront taking care of vocals and lead guitar. The song he put on this site was alright but I want to hear an entire set, and live would be better than anything. In an age of Pro Tools and Digital indulgence, live is the only way to tell. I think it will be interesting to see what he has to offer.

I happen to think they're decent enough.
I also happen to like them along with Linkin Park.

without shinoda, linkin park wouldn't even exist. he is extremely important and i have to say that rap isnt so bad when it comes from his vocals combined with some strongly distorted guitars in the background. linkin park does deserve to play on a stage with stp. stp's great, but they provide nothing new like linkin park. and trust me im a fan of stp. they're just not special. linkin park does a great job of tearing down the style barriers, tho and that makes them one of the greatest bands in history.

The only 'major' thing that changed on mtm is Rick Ruben, the producer. Blame him.

Plus listen to grey daze, or anyhting that Chester recorded before 2002, you'd realise his voice sucked. he had major vocal training =]
plus enjoy his new solo album in a few months.

Seen Linkin Park last weekend and they were very good
Chester is ridiculously good at what he does.
I wouldn't mind seeing them again, especially since they're with some great bands

kinda hard since shinoda has a part in a lot of the songs and he writes their music

If you people actually knew what you were talking about you'd know that STP has toured with Linkin Park before. Look up, Family Values 2001 Tour.

Secondly, Shinoda is the musically talented guy in the band. I can understand people not liking the rap and you have a right to that opnion but LP would not sound like LP without Mike. He is the guy who creates most of their songs. Also, Warner Brothers tried to keep Mike from rapping when they signed LP and told the band just to have Chester sing. The band stood up for Mike and 20 million albums sold later, I don't think the label thinks that anymore.
