Van Halen Filming Shows For DVD

Van Halen is reportedly filming select shows on its current tour for an upcoming DVD release. Last Tuesday night's (May 13) concert at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey was the first performance to be filmed, according to singer David Lee Roth.

Eddie Van Halen recently spoke to People magazine about his health in the wake of the March 2008 announcement that Van Halen's ongoing world tour was put on ice after the guitarist was diagnosed with an unspecified medical condition. There are still no public details on exactly what ailed, or ails, the guitarist, but he says, quote, "I feel excellent. I'm healthier than I've ever been. It's wonderful."

Van Halen resumed its reunion tour with singer David Lee Roth on April 17 in Reno, Nevada, followed by a performance in Las Vegas on April 19 at Tiger Jam XI, an annual fundraiser hosted by pro golf star Tiger Woods.

Following Tiger Jam XI, the quartet headed to Cincinnati on April 22 to begin the jaunt in earnest, with shows running through June 2 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tickets for all the original dates are good for the new shows, and refunds are also available at point of purchase.

Promoters stated in March that Eddie Van Halen was undergoing "medical tests to define a course of treatment," although both his son, bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, and his ex-wife, actress Valerie Bertinelli, went public to reassure fans that the guitarist was doing "great." A recurrence of cancer or a fall off the wagon were both rumored as the cause of the guitarist's woes.

The first Van Halen tour in 22 years with Roth behind the mic has been a smash success since kicking off last fall.

This is great. I wish they'd come to London, England and just do a load of gigs (hehe, they'd probably need about 5 nights at Earl's Court in a row to keep up with the demand). Till that happens, at least we're getting a DVD.

UG needs to sort out what they're doing. Yesterday they had a picture of Neil Peart when it was meant to be John Rutsey and now Sammy Hagar when he's not even in the band.

It's incredible that one of the greatest live bands still doesn't have an official live dvd featuring roth. The world will need something to remember their performances by. It's about time.

But yeah, when the hell are they doing to get out of the US and tour the real world?

saw em at conseco fieldhouse in indianapolis in October. good show. wolfgang annoyed me tho. idk. better to have michael anthony then a 18 year old.....the fact he was born after roth already left.

Geez, yesterday with the Neil Peart picture instead of Rutsey, and now a haggar picture for Van Halen? It honestly should take 5 seconds to notice the mistake...

Anyways, DVD should be awesome, see how Eddie is looking and playing nowadays. Also should be interesting seeing Wolfgang on bass, see if he can live up to his name

Why is it that they always show Sammy in the picture captioned as "Van Halen"? Other than that, sweet. Wolfgang, having only played bass for like, less than a year, is good. He played a little bass solo at the show i went to. He also has good stage presence, doubled by the extra ability of the father-son stuff Eddie and Wolfie do onstage. Even Dave put his arm around his shoulder and sang with him a couple times.
