The Raconteurs: Progress In New LP

Done with the album work in The White Stripes, Jack White is putting a full gear on his other project, The Raconteurs aka The Saboteurs in Australia. The band announced that they have accumulated a number of songs ready to be molded into new CD.

A post on their official website read, "The 'teurs have a lot of new songs in the works people, the writing and structure of them has dissipated and reinvigorated many times over since we came home from our last shows."

The news that they put up as a conversation between Jack White and fellow member Brendan Benson continued, "The new songs are coming along strong. I'd hate to even begin to describe them," said Jack. "It would be like dancing about architecture," Brendan jotted in before Jack becoming more specific, " or singing about girls."

No other information like title, release date or any single have been revealed. In April, the band said that the album is aimed for 2008 and that they are currently recording in Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.

Their debut effort 'Broken Boy Soldiers' reached #7 in U.S. Billboard Hot 20 chart and was nominated for two Grammys, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal (for first single 'Steady as She Goes').

Thanks for the info to Aceshowbiz.com.

New album is set to come out somewhere in february as I recall, it was being worked on early this year, even before the release of Icky Thump most of the songs where already completed.

I must agree, jack is a friggin' machine. And also, "Broken Boy Soldiers" was a fantastic album (thus the grammy noms).

It's not really THAT impressive, but it's unheard of in this age of one album every 3 years. Hell, Elton John released 16 albums in a 2 year stretch in the mid 70s. Recently, Ryan Adams came out with 3 albums, including a double album, in a 1 year period.

Jack White doesn't take breaks from music. "Broken Boy Solider" was a great CD. Brendan Benson is a great song writer and little Jack and Patrick are a solid rhytmn section. And Elton John was forced to release that many albums by the record company but still that's a shit ton and they're all great.

The reason it takes longer for albums to be made is because artists tour so damn much (Elvis never even sang a note outside the US) and they take breaks.

I'm really looking forward to this, Steady As She Goes, Hands and Broken Boy Soldier are great songs.

Wasn't "like dancing about architecture" something Zappa said about music journalism?

Jack's cool, I look forward to whatever he does.

i am very much excited about this album. their first was good, definitely a good first album for a band even though it was too short. but i have a feeling this album will shape out more since they have a better understanding of each other as a group.

Yeah, but that's back in the day. Most bands nowadays get maybe an album every other year. The Stripes started in '97 and have pumped out six albums while touring and working with a side project.

That's impressive for a modern mainstream band.

SickorSaneSF :
dude zakk wylde is aight and all but he's not one of like the guitarist i idol. his shit starts to sound the same. fast solos, pinch harmonics, etc. = yawn.

jack white mixes it up a bit and his creative has like no end. he's a beast imo.

Mmm.
First Icky Thump rocked and still rocks my stereo.. and now i have a sexy 'teurs album to pick up. Thank god.

Who cares if the amount of albums he releases is impressive... Quality not quantity. And Mr. White has the Quality out the wazoo.

If you see them live sometime in the future (vague i know..) be sure to pay attention to the warm-up band. They are a norwegian band called Bigbang, and they are absolutely amazing. I'm a guy that used to think bands like Metallica, RHCP, QOTSA and Foo Fighters were my favourite bands, but after hearing Bigbang, they became my first choice. They play kinda 70s rock (retro rock) and also have some softer songs. Amazing stuff
