Raconteurs Record Second Album

The Raconteurs, the side project of White Stripes frontman Jack White, are in a Nashville studio working on the follow-up to their 2006 debut "Broken Boy Soldiers," and hope to have a new album out next year, according to Reuters.

The group, which also features Brendan Benson, along with Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler of The Greenhornes, has been recording at Blackbird Studio for a week-and-a-half and currently has 12 songs written, White said.

The group is attempting to get as much of the as-yet-untitled album done before the White Stripes start touring to coincide with the June 19 release of their next album, "Icky Thump."

"We don't know if were going to finish but we wanted to get everything down before we got busy," White told Billboard.com. "We have a lot bigger ideas about certain things, so we will see how far we get."

White said the sound was "very different" from the first album. "It's coming out great, man," he added.

The band is signed to White's Third Man Records but remains in need of a marketing and distribution partner in the United States in the wake of the shuttering of V2 Records in January. Third Man has a deal with Warner Bros., but only for the White Stripes, sources said.

In the White Stripes news, the band is going to release two singles. One is a limited edition, red vinyl 7" of "Rag And Bone," which will come free with the June 6th issue of NME. The other single, for the song "Icky Thump", will be available to the public on CD and white vinyl on June 11th. Both 7" vinyl singles will feature etchings, not songs, as the B-side.

It's funny that the article refers to the Raconteurs as Jack White's side project, and one of the titles to the news articles below the article says, "Jack White:'Raconteurs is not a side project!'".

Raconteurs rock because its a full band with Rhythm guitar, lead guitar, drums (better then Megs), and a bass (also there is keyboards in some of there songs) but I like the White Stripes more because they have a bluesy feel to them (there first two albums in general) but Jack White rules and im sure i'll have both of the upcoming albums and im sure i'll love both of them.

Like I Is :
The Raconteurs sound like most modern music these days. The White Stripes are innovative and minimalistic. There was too much noise on Broken Boy Soldiers, too many foreign sounds.

I prefer the White Stripes, but I am still excited about the new Raconteurs album. I am totally more pumped for Icky Thump, though. I love Jack White, but I think he is best with Meg. There is just something about her drumming. It's not flashy, but its hypnotic.

I'm definitely going to buy Their next album, because anything Jack seems to work on comes out amazing. I also love the way Jack and Brendan's voices go together.

Meh, I don't really like the white stripes, and the raconteurs are average at best .. But at least they are making another album, might check it out, give them another shot.

Havenspear :
The drummer for the Raconteurs is MUCH MUCH better than Meg White, in my opinion. And I recently got Broken Boy Soldiers; pretty freakin' sweet.
