Paul McCartney To Give Away Album With Newspaper

artist: paul mccartney date: 05/07/2008 category: upcoming releases

Sir Paul McCartney is to give away his latest album, ‘Memory Almost Full’, with editions of the Mail on Sunday, it’s been announced, according to GIGWise.

The former Beatle’s album, which was originally released on Starbucks’ Hear Music label last year, will come free with the May 18th edition of the newspaper.

McCartney is the latest big name artist to complete a deal with the paper, who last year gave away Prince’s ‘Planet Earth’ for free.

More recently, UB40 gave fans with a ten track sampler of their new album ‘Twentyfourseven’ as one of the paper's supplements.

When it was released last year, McCartney’s album charted at number five in the UK, selling over 100,000 copies, reports Music Week.

Weird, I dont really get it. Explain to me why I paid money for that? Although it is a pretty good cd. Not as good as Chaos and Creation though

Ugh, of all the papers he could have chosen, he had to go for the Mail On Sunday.

I KNOW THE MAIL ON SUNDAY.....
I hate the daily mail; it's almost facist.
I'm surprised sir paul in his liberal political persuasion would chose the daily mail...
I guess they must've put enough 0's on the cheque

I'd be tempted to go and buy it, but I hate the mail. He must be in need of some cash after heather mills robbed all his money.

Prince did a similar thing I think haha
Its almost as if the artists that dont reley on album sales are trying to find the most obscure ways to give there albums away.

I think a band should adopt a treasure hunt approach. Pick a random major city and Hid their CD in various locations then make it puplic knowledge then the masses just need to go out and hunt for the album haha food for thought
