Linkin Park 'Putting In A Lot Of Work' For Next Album

Linkin Park 'Putting In A Lot Of Work' For Next Album

Linkin Park plans to cut down the space between new studio releases this time around, hoping not to repeat the four-year gap between 2003's "Meteora" and 2007's "Minutes To Midnight". Singer Mike Shinoda told The Pulse of Radio that the band members have been working on new material for a while and that he's even found time to record some demos while on tour. "Actually I've been doing a couple of studio dates out on the road, which is new for me," he said. "I did a date when we were touring in Germany, one date in Prague, a bunch of dates in New York, and I'm excited about that. It's been very cool for us. So long story short, we've been putting in a lot of work and hopefully we could have a new record out next year."

Linkin Park is in the midst of its Projekt Revolution tour, which stops in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday (July 30) and wraps on August 24 in Woodlands, Texas.

Shinoda and bassist David "Phoenix" Farrell were on hand last Thursday (July 24) in New York City's Times Square to accept a $25,000 donation from Major League Baseball and Champs Sports to the band's Music For Relief organization.

Major League Baseball's Authentic Collection is sponsoring the Projekt Revolution tour for the third time this summer, while this year's edition of the tour marks Champs Sports' involvement for the second time.

Mike Shinoda also recently opened his second exhibition of paintings at an art gallery in Los Angeles.

Thanks for the info to Blabbermouth.net.

Obviously I'm ecstatic about this, but...I want Dead By Sunrise to release theirs first, then Julien K will.

Still great news though. =D

I hope that we don't have to wait another four years for a new album. I have all three of their albums, Hybrid Theory, Meteora and Minutes to Midnight, and I'm gettin' stoked on the next one.

When you make the amount of money they do, and the success they have, putting in a lot of work should be a given. I really don't see a need for them to tell us that.

Maybe because they don't make very much money off of the albums. If you think about it for a second, it's a big deal when 500,000 of their CD's are sold and if you think they each even get a penny per CD your retarded.

ok, but the more CDs sold, the more fans they have. the more fans, the more who buy shirts and go to concerts. that is where they make their money. and excuse me, but i wont feel sorry for them for making a penny per album sold when they take in thousands at every gig.

Sell outs. They had something going, with Hybrid Theory! Now, they ruined it all, threw it down the toilet, and became commercial.

Let's hope they sound like LINKIN PARK this time around.

Minutes to Midnight sounded like U2 with slightly more gain.

in case you didn't notice, they were commercial enough with Hybrid Theory. just because they changed their musical style doesn't mean they sold out. they evolved as musicians and followed a different formula for Minutes to Midnight.

they better be serious about getting this record out soon. i'm curious as to what they'll do without Reiner.

how do you "sell out" when you're already mainstream as hell?

I used to like Linkin Park a little but after a few listens the songs are all so.. boring. It's like, anyone could write these songs. Well not anyone, I mean, they could've came from any random band. They just sound too basic/commercial/good for music noobs.

I dont like their new sound, its too much pop involved.
If they went back to doing something new and dropping the pop thing for a "heavy" sound, i would like to hear what they could come up with.

latest album was more pop, and yes pretty much anyone could of wrote it but that is what a lot of rock stuff is like these days. i didn't mind it. was less corny then the first to albums in some ways. the lyrics though were a downright disgrace. why the **** would they write a song about valentine day hahaha

Hooray, I remember when Linkin Park was a good band. Now they remind me of the same style as Coldplay half the time. Bring back the rock, fellas.

They are more mainstream now than they ever were before. I feel disgraced when I hear their new garbage on WEBN...

I dont care if you consider their new album pop or soft alternative, its still good music and its certainly not garbage. It would of been garbage if they would have done another record identical to what they've done in the past. Linkin Park were pretty much damned if they did or damned if they didnt with this album, so I somewhat understand the moaning and bitching from all of you.

I didn't ask you to feel sorry for them. All that i meant was that they could easily make a terrible album and still make a shit tonne of money because people would buy the shirts and go to concerts anyway.

+ Sideways 8 to the infinite power. I can't stand LP since MtM. Next album better be more towards Meteora, or HT, or I will lose ALL faith in them.

Reanimation isnt really a studio album just a remix one so it doesnt really count...
