Taking Back Sunday Lose Member

Taking Back Sunday would like to announce that vocalist-guitarist Fred Mascherino has decided to leave the band to pursue a solo career. Mascherino joined Taking Back Sunday in 2003 and appeared on the band’s gold-certified albums Louder Now and Where You Want To Be.

We are sad to see Fred go,” says vocalist Adam Lazzara, “and we wish him well with his new project. As for Taking Back Sunday, we’re alive and well. We’ve started working on the new album and it feels really good.

There’s a creative spark that comes in this part of the process and for a band there’s nothing better than when you hit it and start having two hour conversations about music,” adds bassist, Matt Rubano. “That’s where we are and we’re excited to challenge ourselves and see what the future holds.

Taking Back Sunday have just finished up the Projekt Revolution Tour with Warner Bros. Records label-mates Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, and HIM. They have five new songs written and will return to the studio in the coming months to record the follow-up to Louder Now due out in 2008.

The Color Fred, Mascherino’s solo project, will release Bend To Break October 30th.

Dang, Fred was a really good guitarist and singer. Shame to see him go, but I can't wait to see what The Color Fred will be like, despite the cheesy name. I can't wait to see who they replace him with also, it will be interesting. And as far as Taking Back Sunday and live shows go, they do pretty much suck, but it's still worth it to see Adam swing a microphone.

But that sucks, I liked the way their mixed vocals sound, plus he was my favorite member.
Although TBS is no where close to my favorite band.

No offense to taking back sunday at all, but live, adam(i think thats the lead singers name?) doesn't sing anywhere near as good as on the cd. He doesnt hold the microphone close enough to his mouth and it really takes away from the overal performance. I bought the Louder Now cd and i dont like it a whole lot, no offense to them. The best songs there were Devine Intervention, Makedamnsure, and the guitar part on Whats it Feel to be a Ghost was awesome.

I think it depends on how he's feeling on the day. I know it seems like a lame thing to say but really. Sometimes he's amazing, other times he's awful. Their Live Earth perfromance was absolue trash, yet I've seen them twice and they were amazing. Speaking to other people there's many mixed opinions.
I'm sad that Fred left. He was, in my opinion, the heart of TBS (even though he isn't an original member.) Best of look to him and the rest of the TBS guys though.

DirkLance :
He was actually way better than he let on in the albums, I think. If he does a solo band that's very different, I think we'll see way more talent in the guitar department. He does a Halen-esque knock off tapping solo live in the middle of "Liar" and it sounds really good.

I think this will do for him what Alter Bridge did for Mark Tremonti (in a lesser sense). He'll be able to break out and really show his potential as a guitarist.

yes mate, i'm sure you've heard "if i surrender" its written for a full band?

fred's a great guitarist, he was like the backbone for tbs and a great lead guitarist, he'll be sorely missed.
with new members comes a new direction and sound though..

I absolutely hate that other guitarist; you know, the fat guy? He's so goofy looking, and he just doesn't fit into the band at all. In my opinion, that's a serious case of "scared-to-kick-your-friend-out-of-the-band-itis," as it's referred to in the medical world. I doubt that he does anything but look awkward and suck up money.
God, I'm a dick...

I disagree with Fred's decision to leave, he and Adam complimented each other perfectly, especially on vocals.

TBS recovered amazingly well when John left,.. so maybe they've got their eyes on someone just as good if not better?

Oh, and ps... My band are in the Scottish Sun today!!!

For everyone saying that he added something to the band, ask yourself "did I like the first two cds or louder now more" IMO he didn't do much good for 'em, I'm happy he was a huge drop off from John Nolan, I hope they get a good lyricist out of a new guitarist/singer assuming tehy get one.

His name's Eddie Reyes. He's the guy who actually formed the band in the first place. Check your history please. And as far as flaming goes, please take it easy. I'm not an advacate for any emo bands, and TBS is pretty much the only band that earned my respect from that 'genre'
