Hardcore/punk act Revolution Mother is scheduled to perform at ESPN's X Games 12 X Fest, at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., on Saturday, August 5 at 4:40 p.m., with headliners Nine Black Alps and Buck-O-Nine.
The performance marks the first Southern California appearance for the Long Beach, Calif.-based band (vocalist Mike Vallely, guitarist Jason Hampton, bassist Ed Solis, drummer Wal Rashidi) after the successful completion of the Zumiez Couch Tour 2006 supporting CKY, and as the headliner of Mike V's Rebel Music Tour. Mike V's Rebel Music Tour, which runs throughout the Eastern U.S. ending July 30 in Woodstock, IL, also features performances by Pittsburgh-based singer/songwriter Joe Grushecky and melodic rock act A Fall From Grace.
While on tour in Pittsburgh, Revolution Mother had the opportunity to record pre-production demos for its forthcoming album at Mr. Smalls Recording Studios. A sample of one of the demoed songs, "Come On," is available for preview on the band's MySpace website.
Revolution Mother's debut EP, Enjoy The Ride, will be released August 8, 2006, via Mike V. Incorporated. The EP has already been praised by several media outlets. Thegreatnothing.com says: "Enjoy The Ride sounds like a hybrid of Henry Rollins/Black Flag and Rage Against the Machine, with just the tiniest dash of Black Sabbath . Deep grooves and an immense bottom end round out some sweet riffs, all of which combine to make a powerful and solid debut. With lyrics dealing with introspection to social-political commentary, Enjoy the Ride is as proactive and thought provoking as any hardcore album ever was."
