Two years after their acclaimed release When It Falls, Zero 7's newest album is here; The Garden. In stores June 6th, The Garden was produced by members Sam Hardaker and Henry Binns and mixed by Phil Brown, who has worked with such luminaries as the Rolling Stones, Brian Eno and Talk Talk. José González is featured on four tracks including a reworking of "Crosses" from his own album, "Veneer". Long time cohort Sia Furler also sings solo on four tracks including "Throw It All Away;" and duets with Zero 7's own Henry Binns on two others. The Garden sees Zero 7 take a fresher, more upbeat musical direction while still maintaining their trademark sound, and could very well turn out to be the soundtrack of the summer.
From the gentle British folk tones of 'Left Behind' to the mesmeric sonic tonic of 'This Fine Social Scene,' there are thrills and spills aplenty at every turn. These are headed off by the opening assault of 'Futures' all shimmering acoustics and exuberant bluesy psychedelia of 'Throw It All Away' which set the mood perfectly.
