Arch Enemy undoubtedly proves that they are one of the most acclaimed and influential bands within the metal genre as their phenomenal new album, 'Rise of The Tyrant', debuted at #84 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. This surpasses the highly acclaimed Doomsday Machine chart entry making it the band’s highest charting effort yet.
This accomplishment also marks another milestone for Century Media Records, who are celebrating consecutive top 100 Billboard debuts. Last week, Suicide Silence entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #94, which also marked the highest debut ever for a new Century Media artist.
Mike Amott (guitars) further comments: “It's amazing for an extreme metal band from Sweden to have such a strong debut on the Billboard Top 200 chart and we wanted to thank all of our fans for their undying support over the years. This is also a further testament to all of our non-stop touring and dedication to the U.S. territory and we are ecstatic to see all of that hard work payoff. We hope to see you all soon.”
Rise of The Tyrant is a scorching effort that marks the reunion of the heralded Amott brothers guitar tandem and is clearly destined to be the group’s defining moment. They recently completed an eye-popping new video for the track, “Revolution Begins,” with acclaimed director Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Lacuna Coil). Look for the clip to make its debut on the Headbangers Ball blog in the coming weeks.
Arch Enemy are also this week’s featured band on MTV News’ Metal File. See below to check it out.
A stunning new E-Card is now available, which features a trailer for the “Revolution Begins” video, a photo gallery, downloadable wallpaper and MySpace banner and the “Blood On Your Hands” MP3 track.
Arch Enemy are currently in the midst of “The Black Tyranny Tour,” a massive co-headlining North American trek with Machine Head, which also features Throwdown and Sanctity in the support slots.
With Rise of The Tyrant, the mighty Arch Enemy ultimately redefine the genre they helped create.

: I think this just attests to the diversity of the taste in mainstream music. A band like Arch Enemy isn't playing pop music, they carved out a language of music entirely for themselves. It turns out you don't need a major record label or radio support to still command a world-wide fan base. This success speaks volumes to how much Arch Enemy engages proffessionalism in their preformance with dedication to the people that give them a stage to play on. I saw Arch Enemy play with In Flames in 2004 and it was incredible how precise and united that band was on stage. It will be interesting where Arch Enemy goes from here, but a great step forward none the less!POSTED: 10/05/2007 - 12:06 pm / quote |

I agree that no one can beat deathlok, bu having an EXTREME METAL band from SWEEDEN in the bilboard top 100 shows how awesome metal is and maybe, just maybe, a small ray of hope for those of us that are waiting for hard rock and metal to come back to the mainstream and relieve us from this hip hop era we're living in (and preerably kill emo in the process)POSTED: 10/05/2007 - 02:43 pm / quote |

: i seriously do NOT understand this. first off, everybody's all bitching and complaining about artists that are mainstream, and how much it sucks when someone IS mainstream, and how much mainstream sucks etc. etc. and how GOOD and AWESOME and REAL the underground music scene is. and now one of those underground bands has taken a pretty significant step towards going mainstream (billboard really is the most mainstream defining list of the entire world), and everybody's all 'hooray' arch enemy, 'go arch enemy!'. i don't get it.POSTED: 10/06/2007 - 09:50 am / quote |

I think it's because Arch enemy did it without changing their sound in any way (well, it changed, but you know what i mean.) They didn't "Sell out" to go mainstream. So they sitll sound like an underground band, but more people are listening. Makes the fans happy.
I f they start sounding like Nickelback, then i'll complain.POSTED: 10/06/2007 - 11:38 am / quote |

: arch enemy sound like arch enemy more than ever again,, its all in especially in the melody lines combined with the bone crushing rythm riffs.Michael Amot did better jobs with arch enemys earlier albums, burning bridges and wages of sin.I think the earlier albums are mostly responsible for them being where they are today.POSTED: 10/06/2007 - 06:19 pm / quote |
