Slipknot Performs 'Psychosocial' Live

Fan-filmed video footage of Slipknot performing its new single, "Psychosocial", live for the first time ever this past Wednesday night (July 9) at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington can be viewed here: Video #1, Video #2 (clip uploaded by YouTube user "skudave").

The band's video for "Psychosocial" will premiere on MTV's "F'N MTV" program on Friday, July 18 at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Slipknot's new album, "All Hope Is Gone", will arrive on August 26 via Roadrunner Records. The title track was made available last month, while "Psychosocial" arrived at rock radio last week.

Slipknot revealed their new masks on July 1 with an exclusive set of photos at Spinner.com. Described as "creepy" and "intricate," some of the nine band members' masks have changed considerably, while others have been altered only a little.

Frontman Corey Taylor's mask has undergone the most drastic and disturbing change, now looking like it's made of "dried human flesh," as MTV.com put it. Crahan has built lots of leather and zippers into his disguise, calling to mind the "Gimp" from the movie "Pulp Fiction", while drummer Joey Jordison has added a crown of black thorns to his design.

Fair enough vol.3 had a few half deent things on it but all in all this band is still for teenybopers who think that this is the definiation of detah metal. As far as I know, a reporter asked, and that was there answer. From about 10 years ago.

Also, to go along with the general theme, they seemed much less energetic. Mick looked really dead, compared to normal. Clown was barely doing anything. It was depressing. The song itself was played well, but thats such a perfect rocking out song, and they didn't live up to it.

...I have mixed feelings about the video. The song has heavy riffage but the only headbanging I saw was Craig in the back and Mick (who looked really stiff). They played the song pretty damn precise though, better than what was on 9.0 Live. Corey's vocals were better too, probably because of two reasons: A. It's the beginning of the tour, and B. His old mask hung over his mouth too much so it sounded like he was screaming through a cardboard tube.

Meh, I'm still going to see them on the 13th here in Indy.

and my props to slipknot...what doesn't kill you makes you stronger as I always say...i think they have more haters than than fans...but they've sold millions of records, have a successful and long (compared to most bands these days) career going for them, and definitely rank in superiority when creativity is the basis of discussion.

also, this is a forum, where people come to express their opinions. and however positive or negative, opinions are just all equally as valuable. if a person feels conviction that a band is overpopularized, then they are doing the right thing by stating that opinion and engaging in the process of judgement, as long as they are doing so in an intelligent and civil way and presenting reasons that support their opinion. it's hypocritical so assert a negative opinion about someone simply because you don't like the fact that they gave a negative opinion about something you like.

ok, now ive only read a few of the posts on this forum, some giving props to slipknot, i salute you, and some who are ripping on them and whining about why they dont like them, how about this, in the future if theres a band that you dont like at all, dont waste your ****in time reading about them and then posting your reasons for hating them, cuz i know that every single person on here has a band that they love and others hate, i know that lots of people love fall out boy where as i ****in despise them, but i dont waste my time reading the news about them on here and then bitch about how crappy of a band they are. unless you are posting shit like that because you love to debate people or some shit like that, shut the **** up, besides for us die hard slipknot fans, you'll never stop us from liking this band no matter what you say. and another thing, how can they be "sell-outs" or "over acheivers" for wearing their masks? its not like they did it to become MORE popular, they did it because shaun "clown" crahan decided to weat a clown mask to practice one day and kept doing it, and the rest of the band decided to get masks too.
i just dont see wear the sell out arguement or over acheiver arguement comes into play here

First of all, Slipknot are a good band. This album will be there best. I love all of the masks, but Mick still has the best, with Joey at a close 2nd...

Second point, to all the maggots in here that are butthurt (I'm a maggot too, but one with an open mind) people are allowed to express however they feel. Get the **** over it. For each positive there shall be a negative, so is it right to only praise something and never slam it? Think of it through a metaphorical sense, would it be right to only have babies born and noody die? Would it be right to have only White and no Black? Yes, like racism, racism is the descrimination of race, and you are descriminating posts, see the point... Would it be right to have 1 and not 0 as well? Without both the screen you see before you would be blank. Both construction and destruction are needed to produce something, be it a turd or gold. Nothing is perfect, and never will be, get used to it and move on...

And my third point, the masks are not to brainwash people into liking them. The masks are just another form of expression but do have a psychological effect...

Some people need something to help them 'get into the zone'. Some people use pot and some use masks, deal with it. Some people use masks because it helps them do something they wouldn't normally do. The only way I'd get on stage is by wearing a mask, I'm an introvert and can't stand having people see me/judge me, and yes people will always judge how you look (example: you are bitching about it) so that would make me nervous and the music would show that then people would piss and moan about the music sucking, thus the mask helping me feel confident and the music blowing your face off...

Final Point, the video was actually of good quality. Since it's still a pretty fresh song I'm not surprised they aren't jumping off drum kits or breaking shit yet, give 'em time to snowball. And Corey's mask does sound like it's working better for vocals, the Vol.3 mask looked like a pain in the ass to use, but awesome visual though.

This new song is lacking of any form of soul that Slipknot once had but noticably faded from album to album.

Slipknot now ends their self-castrastion with this new music that takes what little originality they still had on Volume 3 and washes it over with every musical cliche they could slap together.

Gone is the intensity, the emotion, the feeling of a buildup or climax to a song but now is just the feeling of a musical wash... boring.

The guitar though more "skilled" than on the last albums is lackluster and the soloing even moreso, I expected much more from Mick Thompson, as did I of every member. Corey Taylor no longer tests his range or does anything interesting while screaming, there is no interesting ambient sounds or sampling. They don't use their three drumming at all and there isn't even a point for Paul, the bassist, who you can't even hear on the new song.

I'm dissapointed completely in Slipknot, but I can't say I didn't see it coming. I'm going to now listen to their self titled album and appreciate the good ol' days.
