Protest The Hero Stream 'Sequoia Throne' Remix On UG

Protest The Hero have announced the August 5 release of a new, exclusive three-track EP that will available worldwide only on iTunes. The Sequoia Throne Remix EP will include three remixes of the band's current single created by three very different artists.

C0ndu1t, the cerebral industrial band from Canada, created the brutally intense first remix. It can be now streamed exclusively at the band's official UG Profile.

Also, the winner of a Metal Hammer magazine contest - known only as L-Ion - created the electro-heavy second remix, and the otherworldly atmospherics and textures of the third were created by Devin Townsend, record producer (GWAR, Darkest Hour, Misery Signals) and original member of influential heavy music pioneers Strapping Young Lad.

“We were excited to hear what these remixers would do with the track,” said singer Rody Walker. “We’re not afraid of a little experimentation and now we can say that we have a club anthem!”

Track listing:

01. Sequoia Throne – C0ndu1t Chupacabra Remix
02. Sequoia Throne – L-Ion Remix
03. Sequoia Throne – Devin Townsend Remix

I love PTH but the initial vocal repeat on that remix sounds awful haha. (the did you come here to kill part)

other than that it's pretty good so far although really it removes most of the point of PTH in my opinon.

The way the vocals have been cut and arranged is all that really lets it down though.

It might have been just the remix, but the vocalist was off more often than not, rhythm wise. It also might have been just the way-too-overproduced remix again, but I saw nothing facinating about the instruments either. I honestly just gave hardcore, or whatever the **** u wanna call it now, another chance. and nope. not my thing, too bad.

I thought the same thing at first, but I think I just needed familiarity to kick in. I listened through Kezia so many times Fortress was always gonna be hard to get used to.

I reckon the albums are pretty much on par with one another. Different strengths and weaknesses on each one.

Whats the matter? Not kvlt enough for you?

exactly. stupid close-minded elitists. kvlt, tr00 ****s fail. always. metal is a broad term. get used to it.
they're definitely not on par with most tech metal but they are still considered such because of shrugging their -core sound and being more technical in their fortress release.

lol n00b. you obviously have no idea what metal is.

obviously you dont understand the concept of music whatsoever. There are no bands anymore that are metal. metals gone. theyre Called subgenres. if youre gonna get into a genre war learn your shit first. ****

The last "metal" band was something like black sabbith a long time ago. throughout fortress its hard to find a time when luke hoskin isn't tapping or sweeping which, in the technical term, means he could out-shred iomi or hetfield in comparison. sure they arent metal my ipod calls them "technical progressive mathcore" but the guy that said theyre chill was right smoked one with arif and tim was there, met moe at macs and tim was just standin by the bar where they played and was also calm. twas neat.

Overall Fortress is more impressive and more of a masterpiece than Kezia, but Kezia just doesn't have one riff, one bass line, nothing, that I don't adore.

Anybody who doesn't like this band doesn't need to comment. Even if they've got core elements, their music is harder to play than your favorite generic death or black metal band

I didn't like the remix too much though, tbh. I'm a big fan of electronica but that seemed like a really mediocre club mix. It didn't put the melodies of the original to good use imo, just over sampled isolated vocal parts.

    GENRES
    DON'T
    MATTER

i don't care how you classify one band or another, if i like them i like them. genres confine artists, even when they are described using three like thrash/rock/post or whatever. good artists span so much more musical area than that, so labeling like that isn't giving them justice at all.

PTH freaking rock, and i also agree that although i initially thought Kezia > Fortress, but fortress is definitely growing on me. and this remix isn't too bad. im looking forward to the others
