Meshuggah: New Video Online

Meshuggah have unveiled the video for "Bleed" in all of its gory, uber-frightening glory. The clip was produced by Ian McFarland and Killswitch Productions.

Directed, written and edited by McFarland and Mike Pecci, "Bleed" boasts a fittingly-cinematic horror flick tone, and some genuine scares - seriously!

Killswitch Productions had this to say: "Working with Meshuggah was truly an honor for us. It's extremely cool to work with a band who is willing to allow the music and imagery to speak for itself and who does not insist on themselves being the prominent focus of the video. I think that takes real balls and I admire them as a group for doing so."

You can see the video at the official Meshuggah MySpace.

Thanks for the info to MetalStorm.ee.

AWESOME VIDEO.
One of the best music videos i've seen in a while.
Wish they could have played the whole song though.
Lots of symbolism in that video.

Sweet vid for a kickass song. Too bad they shortened it though.. it's not like they're getting any airtime on tv with songs like this anyway.

Either you need your ears checked, or you're just not "metal".

I'll give you that. Meshuggah is an acquired taste. But to say it isn't music is backwards and asinine.

As for the video, it kinda reminds me of Catch 33's paradoxical spiral; the struggle to free yourself from your restraints becomes the very shackles you were trying to escape.
I don't know why Maynard was in this vid tho. haha

I agree with Fux51[FZK]. Meshuggah IS an acquired taste, but it most certainly IS music. You're just trying to get people angry. You know what they call people like you? Trolls.

Probably the first time he heard it. And paying attention to the images not the sounds...

don't get me wrong, it was a great video, but i don't think it fits the gory horror film style.

I picked up the album obZen today and it's absolutely ****ing brutal. It's amazing... they're such a technical wall of devastating sound. Their drummer is like, inhumanly awesome. I knew all this before of course, but this album is even better than any I've heard previously. Although I haven't heard Catch 33 yet.

The bottom half of the person on the cover is actually a woman.

i dont see how anyone can even listen to this band... every song sounds so similar... there is very little contrast at all within most of their songs. If they didnt play on 8 string guitars they would totally be screwed... check out a band called "After the Burial" they play on 8 strings but actually use the range of the instrument.

Firstly, Fredrik Thordendal uses the full scale of the instrument to GREAT effect. Listen to his solo album particularly, if you can get your hands on it. Incidentally, that album is just about all a 7 string guitar I think. And Destroy Erase Improve album is all 7 string I believe.

They could not find a male model that could sit in that posture, so they used a female for the lower half of the pic and a male for the top half.

Although I suspect ur promoting ur own band there, just checked After the Burial out...not bad but they cant touch the inhuman skill of Meshuggah, and they definately dont have the dynamic variation of Meshuggah...anyway the point is your a mong. Get some ears before u compare Meshuggah to your favourite local deathcore band.

Well... to start out.. Meshuggah do not have inhuman skill, i do not call palm muting for 6 minutes straight "inhuman skill". Secondly After the Burial have more "Dynamic Variations" then Meshuggah will ever have and they actually know how to compose good music that doesn't make someone want to shoot themselves in the ear after one song.. and that is purely my opinion before anyone starts bitching.

Though, this is my opinion.. i really hate Meshuggah and that doesn't make me any less of a metal fan.

You can flame on and insult me while talking about how good meshuggah is and how many variations they compose and wut not...

But the fact remains that if they didn't play 8 stringed guitars they would be screwed and might actually have to work to compose something, instead of standing there playing a repetitive ear bleeding composition they feel is music...

Again.. this is an OPINION. Do not degrade myself or anyone else who express negative opinions of Meshuggah... i have not insulted anyone by making this post and expect the same. thx.

To me the appeal is the technically intrigueing music doubled with the unmistakebly driving sound.
