Disturbed is world premiering the video for "Inside The Fire" today on Ultimate-Guitar.Tv and their newly revamped website, Disturbed1.com.

The first single from the band’s upcoming album, "Indestructible", is based on true events from singer, David Draiman’s life. The clip is preceded by a warning by David on the video and song's subject matter, suicide. Photos from the Nathan Cox (Coheed & Cambria, Trivium) directed clip can be seen at these locations: Photo1, Photo2, Photo3, Photo4.

Yea thats what I was thinkin.....Awesome guitar player/songwriter don't get me wrong, but shredder?

He's a hell of a great guitarist - even a great soloist. BUT - shred?

Yngwie is shred. Satch is shred. Vai is shred. Batio is shred...

Donegan is awesome, but he's not really shred.

i'm sorry, but this is neither a good song nor a good video. i haven't listened to anything else from indestructible, but from what i've seen the quality of distrubed's stuff has just taken a nosedive lately. stupify, prayer, awaken, even ten thousand fists were really good songs, but they just seem to have lost it.
Donegan is a hell of a good guitarist, but he needs to stop pretending he's Batio and work on his own style

i think he's pretty good. And to be fair, in the solo in the vid he does whip out the Michael Batio over under technique (20 time slower than MAB but still). But yeah, probably doesn't deserve to win it. Although they went with a lot of surprising choices. I never thought they'd nominate John Schaffer.

I really like this song. I'm really looking forward to both the album and seeing them at Download.

The Metal Hammer nomination really shows how far Donegan has come. He's become an awesome lead player, who writes solos that really fit in brilliantly with the songs under them.

And don't get on your high horses about the word "shred". The category basically means "soloist", it's not like Metal Hammer are claiming that he's Malmsteen.

I personally like "Perfect Insanity" better than "Inside the Fire" but still a great song. Awesome video too! Did you guys hear that they are gonna give out free redemption codes for "Inside the Fire" & "Indestructible" for Rock Band if you pre-order the CD from Best Buy? I wanted to buy it through iTunes b/c I don't really need the CD, but those songs would be cool to play on Rock Band.

Well, the way Satch himself said it in Guitar World:
"The way I look at it, if you really play your guitar with attitude and you don't care about any rules or boundaries that are temporarily set up by commercial considerations, then you're a shredder. That's why Neil Young is a shredder. Or Smashing Pumpkin's Billy Corgan--that's shred guitar music. They're nothing like Allan Holdsworth or John McLaughlin, but I see the same attitude there. It just takes a different sonic form."
From the Shred King Himself. By that logic, I could easily see Donegan as a shredder.

Dragonforce sucks, and Lamb Of God is only decent. Disturbed, is decent. I like the band, they can write good music. but to classify guitarists in bands such as Dragonforce shredders? they can play fast, that doesn't make them good guitarists. the guitarist from a band like Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance could play as fast as Dragonforce if they wished, but that wouldn't make them good players. in order to be a good guitarist, you need to have skill, technique, etc. speed alone does not make a guitarist, or a band.

You just need to really stfu and die. Nosedive? Ten Thousand Fists album revolutionized Disturbed's name. They have taken the epic album The Sickness and have only transcended their category of appeal to new and higher levels with EACH work they put out.

And I'm PRETTY sure Batio didn't "invent" the technique, probably just revolutionized. You...make me sick, and I'll probably get warned for telling you to die, but it's what you need to do, or get your hand out of your ass.

If this is one of the more commercial songs off the new album I cant wait to hear the rest, Perfect Insanity is heavier n more oldskool but then again it is an unreleased track from before they released the sickness. I cant wait Im tryin to preorder the special limited edition album from there website but the bastards r only shipping 2 the U.S. unfortunately Im in the uk.

I think dragonforce aren't all that good and they work a lot with computres for speed but it's undeniable that Herman Lee is really good. Best guitarist out there at the moment (recent ones, not Slash, Morello, Beck, Gilmour, Smith, etc..) is Synister Gates from Avenged Sevenfold. The guy is very good and I really like their music.

plus several thousand.

They played it with tons of dleay to make it sound like they were playin faster, Herman played the freaking final fanatsy theme, which I had already been able to play at an experiance level of two years.

And Totman just did some EXTREMELY easy tapping thing.
Dragonforce sucks.

Donegan is not the best, but he's a great songwriter, and he has gotten quite good at soloing, and I'm very much looking forward to their next album.

Coming from someone who didn't mind any other Disturbed CD, I think this song, along with the couple others I heard, are pretty bad. I didn't really like the vocals, and most of the time the song felt really slow'ish, especially for the pace of the video. Maybe I feel like this because I can barely ever hear the guitar, aside from the chorus.

The over the neck guitar playing would impress me if he wasn't playing the same old drop tune nu metal junk. And yeah, that solo totally shreds, haha, or lackthereof I should say. I never really had anything to diss about their guitar before, but getting overzealous over that junk in THIS day and age is pretty stupid.

I dunno, I really liked the concept of the video, but it didn't fit the song. Disturbed's sound is old news, and this sounds like they're going backwards, when they need to go forward to keep up with the times, kinda like what Sevendust did with Next, like it or not..

I'll pick up the cd sooner or later. I love the sound of Disturbed, they've shown that they've progressed as song writers. Donegan mightn't be the best guitarist, but Disturbed's music doesn't need him to pull out a shred solo at 300 bpm.

Well, you see, the guys who select the guitarists for nominations aren't prejudiced dicks. I've forgotten, but why should a guitarist be less prioritised because he plays in a genre?

hmm I like the new sound more than the old sound. I think the song was a little weird for the video to, but it was nice weird fit with the dark story behind the vid. A band doesn't "have" to change to keep up with the times. They make whatever music that makes them happy.

If you think everyband should just change their sound to keep up with everyone else then I guess your a fan of only sellout bands.

I noticed that, as well. Disturbed's been around for a while, but they've never steered too close to sounding like a certain band, maintained their classic sound, but improved on it along the way. The solos are a nice touch, vocals...put it this way, if Disturbed ever gets a new vocalist, I'm not listening to them anymore. Like what happened with Drowning Pool, once they got the new singer after the old one passed, just wasn't the same.

And on the note of whoever the hell said Dragonforce had "shredders"...I'm assuming you've never heard of Paul Gilbert before, lol. Herman and Sam are the biggest posers I've ever witnessed, and Dragonforce is a disgrace to metal. (though they're hilarious to listen to. Lyrics are....wow.)

are you kidding me? dragonforce is the cheesiest band that is out right now. willie adler would school those guys.

man, two way different genres, and as much as i like lamb of god, adler couldn't solo his way out of a cardboard box. anyways it's morton who the better of the two.

and as goes for dragonforce, they can take lamb of god on solos, but sound so messy live. perfect example of how a studio can help A LOT.

Don't like the song. Kind of getting sick of Disturbed really. All of their songs sound the same and the singer's signature scream just makes me laugh to be honest. He always adds little variations on it, even in this song. Oh well...and they say they're gonna last 3 decades...

Stricken was one of my favourite songs ever... i'm not as fond as this, but it sounds solid...there could be something better on the album...

aslong as the signer has lost his on-stage messiah complex...

I'd say so yeah, but if your friend loves them then why don't you ask them to show you some of Disturbed's best material and then you can see for yourself if you like it? That's what I'd do.

As for the song, just, wow. I couldn't make out all the lyrics, but the general message is clear. A bit busy I think, flashing from scene to scene was a bit confusing, but the overall message is very powerful. I don't think the solo fitted though, to be honest. Great solo, I liked it, but not the kind of solo you need for that song. In fact the song itself needed to be heavier really. It didn't quite sound like he was screaming this out in anger and pain, like it didn't sound like something person he was singing about. It sounded more like he was singing about one of his friends who had a loved one suicide, not like he himself had a loved one suicide. Either way it definitely appealed to me. I just hope the rest of the album is heavier. I like Disturbed's heavy stuff.

AMEN TO THAT.. HA HA.

There albums have been recorded fantasticly... but unfortunatly I'll never purchase anything of theres because of the lead singer.

I cant stand his voice at all, The same sort of situation I have with avenged sevenfold

Maybe you have something against deep voices - Avenged Sevenfold and Disturbed are excellent, and the only thing common about their lead singers are the deepness >_>

Anyways, this song is great!
My friend recommended me listen to it.
I found the tune a bit repetitive after a while, but it still sounds awesome-o. Hehe.
