Blunt Magazine recently conducted an interview with The Offspring frontman Dexter Holland to discuss this year's Soundwave. The interview was transcribed at the message board of the band's website.
A few excerpts from the chat follow:
Blunt: "What is the most exciting thing about the prospect of playing at Soundwave '08?"
Dexter Holland: "Getting to see the toilet flush swirl in the opposite direction. And the mosh pits go the opposite way too..."
Blunt: "What is the least exciting thing?"
Holland: "Having to hang out backstage at some great spot when I know I could be out surfing instead."
Blunt: "Which other bands are you looking forward to seeing?"
Holland: "It's a pretty solid lineup but I'm really looking forward to seeing Midnight Oil. I hear Olivia Newton John rocks live too."
Blunt: "What has been your best experience attending a festival as a fan…"
Holland: "One time Wayne Newton reached out from the stage and I shook his hand…oh wait that was a Wayne Newton concert."
Blunt: "Describe the most wasted festivalgoer you have ever seen…"
Holland: "There was once I saw a guy spend $250 on Buckcherry T-shirts and shots of Aftershock. He had to be wasted."
Blunt: "List 5 essential items for your backstage rider?"
Holland: "Beer, Gringo Bandito and Chips, Noodles and his glasses. That’s 5."
Blunt: "What is the last thing you will do before taking the stage at Soundwave ’08?"
Holland: "Make sure my zipper’s up and I don’t have any toilet paper stuck to my shoe."
Blunt: "What is the best advice you can give to the fans attending Soundwave ’08?"
Holland: "Bring toilet paper, ‘cause we are gonna rock the shit outta you. And also 30 bucks that’s how much it’ll cost you for nachos and a bottle of water."
