Rush Donates 100000 To Canadian Museum For Human Rights

artist: rush date: 05/29/2008 category: general music news

The members of Canadian rock band Rush have donated $100,000 from the sale of tickets to last weekend's Winnipeg concert to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

The three band mates — Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart — also announced today they will be selling museum T-shirts at all of the remaining Canadian stops on their Snakes & Arrows Live concert tour, and donating all of the proceeds from those sales to the museum's $105-million private sector fund-raising campaign.

"My band mates and I are proud to be associated with the creation of a Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg," Lee said in a written statement.

"Canadians are uniquely positioned to be leaders in championing such causes, and we applaud the efforts of the Asper family in making this museum a reality. We hope that Canadians across the country will join us in lending their support."

Geddy Lee is so awesome, musically and as a person. It's not like Bono, where you know he's a douche; Geddy is just outright likeable, and for the most part so are Alex and the right honourable Mr. Peart.

Yeah, in my opinion, all members of Rush are very impressing.

Rush has always been involved with charities in Canada; they just don't try to milk the publicity for themselves.

Yeah and that's what makes them different from guys like Bono. Sure Bono wants to give aid to Africa, but it also seems like he is doing it for the attention.

And there's one of the many reasons why they were the first musicians to recieve the Order of Canada, and the first to be inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame. Well done guys.
