Oasis Member Quits

Oasis drummer Zak Starkey is unlikely to perform with the band again after falling out with singer/guitarist Noel Gallagher.

According to The Sun today (May 12), Starkey is highly unlikely to play with the band on any forthcoming live dates, and his involvement in their forthcoming new album, recently completed, will be his last with Oasis.

The newspaper quotes a source close to the band as saying: "There have been arguments with Noel Gallagher and general disagreements."

No official announcement about a possible departure or replacement have been made by the band.

The band are due to embark on a US tour in August, and are rumoured to be announcing further live plans soon.

Thanks for the info to NME.com.

right. i saw him play with the who in chicago and he sounded awesome, he had a really old school, classic sound. shame he's not in a good new band.

who cares? what's this, the 3rd drummer to quit oasis?

oasis is noel and liam, they are a multi-million-record-selling band, they will clearly have no problem in finding another adequate drummer.

Dave Grohl is too good for Oasis, it also wouldn't work considering Oasis bad mouthed Nirvana back in the day because the had a song called "i hate myself and want to die"

Though Oasis are a bit overrated i think, they make good singalong songs thats about it.

Liam, Noel, Gigsey, Bonehead and Whitey.

Zak was never really a true member, he "just" played on their last album and the accompanying world tour. Therefore, I'm not too bothered cos he wasn't really all that, defintely no Whitey. Now, if Gem left that would be a problem...

What does that have to do with anything? Grohl and the Gallaghers are very good friends. In fact, Dave has stated before that the Foo will only share a dressing room with two bands - Oasis, or (as unlikely as it is) Led Zeppelin.

Still, clearly Grohl's got his own commitments.

That was because Noel didn't agree with writing songs about killing yourself, when you're one of the biggest bands in the world. hence he wrote "Live Forever", which by far surpasses anything Nirvana have written. Don't get me wrong, i love Nirvana, but Live Forever is one of the greatest songs ever imo.

And if we followed this train of thought all young and aspiring musicians are wasting their efforts because we'll obviously never be considered 'good' because we started playing after the year 2000. The fact that we can play doesn't matter people, it's our demographic that really defines our mettle.
Bit of an unfair concept ain't it?
