I Killed The Prom Queen Call It Quits

Australian metalcore outfit I Killed The Prom Queen has officially called it quits, according to The Gauntlet. Formed in 2000, the group has released material with Hand Of Hope Records and Metal Blade Records, among others. The following statement has been issued:

"We regret to announce that I Killed The Prom Queen will no longer continue as a band. The final nail in the coffin came when Jona was asked to join USA Metal group Bleeding Through as second guitarist. This, coupled with our inability to find a replacement vocalist, aided the decision to end the band.

"We would all like to sincerely thank all our friends and family and our label's Stomp, Metal Blade, Golf and Howling Bull records for their ongoing support of IKTPQ and most of all we would like to thank all the fans that made the last 7 years the most amazing years of our lives. We feel that we made a good impact on the Australian and world wide music scenes.

"We also apologise for the cancellation of our upcoming USA tour-dates. The band will announce a final farewell Australian tour in the coming months."

I only heard one song from "I Killed the Prom Queen" and it didn't impress me much at all. Nevertheless, it sucks they broke up , and I hope the guys the best in pursuing music. Rock on!

Interesting how "Emo" and "Screamo" are often used to describe bands nowhere near that genre...
This sucks so much that IKTPQ are splitting. And not so far after I hear Liability of My Own are too. The only local Adelaide band left for me is Parkway Drive. I'm losing hope.

Also IKTPQ aren't screamo or emo. You obviously don't know what you are talking about. How embarrassing. At least they move on stage. I don't think Jona will fit in with bleeding through. They just stand there and play live.

I saw them live once with Static-X and Fear Factory, it was a good night. I was never a huge fan of them but they flew the flag for Adelaide Metal so i'm sad to see them go, especially when the other members may still wanna go on. I just hope they inspired enough local bands (and local record/distribution companies) to keep it alive.

They have a song called 'Sharks in Your Mouth'? I've never heard any of their material, but they get my respect for that alone =)
Always a shame when a band breaks up, must suck for the fans. I heard the name pop up quite a lot so they must have been doing something right. Lets hope they find new bands or something.

Parkway Drive aren't from Adelaide.. they're from Byron Bay in Queensland. And by the way, Parkway Drive is the best thing that came outta Australia. They rule. IKTPQ were okay. I wasn't that psyched about em. I like some of their songs. Shame they broke up though.

agreed. i love parkway drive, as for iktpq, i didnt realy like em much. i only listened to a little bit of em and straight away just turned it off. it aint a big loss, theyll all find other bands.
