Coldplay Remove Tour Merchandise Because It's 'Crap'

artist: coldplay date: 07/21/2008 category: general music news

Coldplay have pulled selected items of tour merchandise on their current US jaunt, because in the words of Chris Martin, it is "crap".

The band felt the quality of some items on sale was substandard, which led to the removal of the goods from merch stalls at the concerts.

"We were in the dressing room in L.A. looking at some of the stuff and much of it, especially some of the t-shirts, looked terrible." Frontman Martin is quoted as saying.

"We put so much work into our music. The same quality control has to extend to stuff being sold at our shows and we made that clear. It has to be a no crap zone."

Thanks for the report to AngryApe.

Get that crap out of the No Crap Zone.
For the record, Coldplay are NOT in the No Crap Zone.
Coldplay has made some astounding pieces of music.
Whether you like Coldplay or not, they're a band that can't be ignored.
Respect your fellow musicians, we all work so hard.

I wish other bands did this as well.
Some of the shirts for some of my favorite bands just look incredibly dumb, and most of them don't pertain to the band at all.
Like, what does a skeleton geisha have to do with Coheed & Cambria?

That's hilarious . . . but yeah, so many great bands have crappy swag. It's cool to see a band actually say, "Hey, we're not selling this."

to be fair something at their shows needs to be exciting...

nah it's good that a band refuses to sell crap merch

stevezy :
yeah at least they care about the quality of the merch. most shit goes out without the band's approval whatsoever.

And yes, they should also get rid of their shitty music to whoever said that first.
