hey if you morons would spent 5 seconds and think about it you'd understant. its pretty useless in my opinion but all it is showing you is every possible order you could play a five note/chord progression. for example, if you chose a, b, d, e, g, and assigned each note to a number (i.e. a=1, b=2, etc.) then you have every combination you could play those 5 chords assuming you dont repeat a chord in it.

Permutations are just all the possible different combinations of the five notes.

Personally I don't see much point in this lesson, other than to illustrate that even for a small number of notes there are many possibilities, which is obvious really.
