Ok fellow UG'ers, meet the new guys on the UG stage: this time it's a progressive rock band Fukana from Portland!

  • Band History/Background:

We are four-piece band Fukana from Portland, Maine. We play a lot of mixed styles of music, and mostly head towards progressive rock. Formed mostly by the drummer, Fukana came together slowly over the years, and now we have come out of our shell.

  • The Story Behind Band Name:

The drummer (Jamie) came up with the name a long while back, starting out as a jam band to say the least turned into something much more. The name has some very literal meaning if you look it closer. The true meaning may be found using ancient chinese syllabic language, or maybe not...

  • Your likes/dislikes in music? Your influences?

We are extremely influenced by Nonpoint, Deftones, Tool, Sevendust, and Mudvayne. Although we write our own music, these bands have helped us with new ideas, and have kept us going!

  • Biograpghy:

When you made your first gig? How much your playing? Why did you decide to start a band? I remember this awesome gig we played at MCLA in Mass. It was such a high energy show! I remember for that show, we gave it all we got, and we got plenty in return! Fukana plays shows locally all the time, and out of state shows when they come up!

  • Some interesting facts about your band:

Our demo was recorded, and mastered by us, alone! We all love the fact that maybe someday we'll be huge, and get our music out to a million or more people!

  • Why people should listen to your music?

Fukana has an awesome stlye of music, going from crisp, clean guitars, to low end distortion, and everything inbetween. With songs that tell a story of heartfelt tales, you can't go wrong!

hmmmm, I think you guys are alright. I really liked your heavy stuff. When your singer starts to sing "melodically" during i Let her go.... he kinda sound like he's constipated... but good other than that

If your singer would listen closely to his singing and improve on it, it would bring it over the top. Music sounds good, just stop singing a little out of tune. Good lock Rockers

your band will be places once you drop your singer...but i know i'm saying nothing new. Get a true screamer..your band would be real good.

oh and your snare sounds like crap and your hi hat sounds like 2 tin cans, a drum tech could eliminate those problems tho.

    foolSTAR :
and one last thing, tell your singer to stay FAR away fromt he Maynard-want-to-be singing voice i keep hearing, Maynard sings with the whiney drag-on melody because his voice is amazing, your singer desicrates the style of singing it is.

Yeah, vocals need work, sometimes it just sounds like noise. But it's not bad.

"/***ing hates it when bands consider themselves a certain genre when they're so blatantly not"

Who cares dude, it's about the music anyways. Fuck classification of genres, there's so much of that shit where it's "nu-metal, no it's heavy metal, no it's real metal" or "they're punk, no they're pop punk, no they're pop, no they're emo." WHO GIVES A SHIT! Shut up dude! Just out of curiousity, hvymetaldrummer do you have a band? If so, I'd like to hear them, you seem to talk a lot of shit about bands on here, but I'd like to see what you have.

this demo in no way justifies the vocal work I do, nor the rest of the band's talents...also it wasn't mixed properly, think I'm making excuses? I'm not...it's exactly what it is, a homeade basement recording with some alright mixing skills on all our parts, I didn't have much to work with and it just plainly isn't a best way to hear what we have (we've got plenty of other songs in our bank, which live and hopefully soon with a better recording will portray that)..progressive rock is the only title that was what we could choose from so calm down...other then that..thx to any of you who actually took the time to listen to what we have and support our cause..as for others, if you don't like the singing but like the guitar blah blah..don't know what to tell you...keep track of our following hear more of our shit and make an opinion based on that..if not...go back to your Good Charlotte and Simple Plan.
